Dr Dean Gutzke is MLA’s Objective Measurement and Data Adoption Manager. Dean is a food technologist specialising in meat science and technology with over 25 years’ experience in R&D and innovation. Dean’s team works with red meat producers and their supply chains including processors and markets, technology providers, and national and international research organisations, non-profit organisations, and governments. 

Dean’s work in objective measurement focuses to deliver tangible value for producers to help deliver the industry’s target of doubling the value of Australian red meat sales. The team supports beef and lamb supply chains to help ‘test-drive’ and accelerate adoption of objective measurement technologies for either carcases and cuts or on live animals that quantifies some meaningful aspect with associated value. Dean is committed to ensuring that Australian agriculture prospers while remaining sustainable and contributing to unlocking value through data.
